Help: how to change from .img to .chd and back

I know you don't really know me... but I've been around for years... I can still remember trying to run KI on my "high end" 400Mhz AMD system... at that time I could only dream of running the game as fast as I do now... we've come a long way....... sorry, to my topic...


I was just wondering if anyone can point me to a program that will convert the KI and KI2 HDD images from .img format to .chd... and back again.

I seem to remember some programs that could do this right after MAME started to support KI and KI2.

I ran KI and KI2 today in MAME for the first time. They ran pretty good IMHO. I think if we could have the best of both MAME and U64 we'd be almost perfect in the emulation of the KI games. One thing I did notice though was that when I ran KI, I got to see the BIO of each character during the opening, but when I ran KI in U64, all I get are the "movies"... no Bio. Is there a reason for this?

Is there any hope of U64 spreading not only to KI and KI2... but to say the Cruis'n USA, World, and Exotica games as well. These are the only 5 arcade games I've ever really cared about. There have been others, but these hold a special spot in my heart and I would love to see them all running under the U64 banner.

Lastly... I know it's a little off topic for these boards... but can anyone point me in the direction of the "Cruis'n Exotica" Roms.... and hdd image if it has one.

There is. MAME starts the game much later on in the attract mode than it should. So in that respect, U64Emu is right. If you let the game run long enough on attract mode, eventually it will get around to displaying the character bios, but U64Emu crashes at that point.


As for emulating the Cruisn' games, they didn't run on the same hardware as KI, so you'd be better off writing a brand new emu.

I'd still like to request that if anyone and point me in the direction of the "Cruis'n Exotica" ROMs I'd be very thankful... I've been trying to find that game on and off for over a year.

Cruisn' Exotica isn't even emulated yet. Why would you want the rom? Roms of unemulated games aren't widely distributed.

so, even though you can download the cruisn exotica roms exotica.u10..., you cannot emulate the game? Dang, that sucks. There's no way we can play it on pc then? Thanks, good to know. The roms being available are a bit misleading IMHO.
